It’s time to feel confident, settled, and supported in your Bariatric Journey.
Helen Kimmel combines her expert knowledge earned over 25 years as a Registered Dietitian with her lived experiences as someone who had WLS and kept the weight off. She is the Bariatric Dietitian who just “gets it”.
Now is YOUR chance to make yourself a priority.
You’re juggling it all: mother, wife, daughter, friend, employee. Everyone depends on you. But when was the last time you were a priority? When did you last do something just for you without guilt?
For so long, you’ve poured everything into others while leaving yourself with whatever was left, if anything. You’ve told yourself that your needs can wait, that everyone else comes first. That taking time for yourself is selfish. So, you push through exhaustion, ignore your own well-being, and promise, I’ll focus on me later. But later never comes.
I know, because I did the same thing. I put myself on the back burner, so far back, I wasn’t even in sight. The guilt of self-care felt unbearable. But thirteen years ago, I had my VSG and finally learned the truth: Taking care of yourself isn’t selfish, it’s essential. And when you do, you don’t just survive, you thrive. You show up stronger, happier, and more present in every role you fill.
Isn’t it time you took up space in your own life?
Hi, I’m Helen! The Bariatric Dietitian who had WLS.
Before we get started, here is a little bit about myself. I’ve been a Registered Dietitian for over 30 years and have a Master’s Degree in Nutrition Counseling. After struggling with obesity for many years, I finally realized even an expert can need help. It took the encouragement of a dear friend, a physician, who told me it was time to consider bariatric surgery. I had VSG 12 years ago, lost 100 pounds and kept it off for over a decade. But I felt like my journey wasn't complete. With the help of GLP-1 meds, I lost the final 40!
I understand what it takes to be successful long-term on a bariatric journey, I live it every day.
Here is why I started this practice.
After my surgery, I was filled with questions. I didn't get enough support from my surgeon's team. I felt like the Dietitians I spoke with didn't understand what it's like to be on a weight loss journey. I felt misunderstood and judged. I wished there was someone who could support and guide me through my post-op journey in an emotionally safe and shame free way. I decided to combine my nutrition education and expertise with my lived bariatric experience to become the support system I wish I had! Not only do I help my clients learn to eat in a way that fits their taste and goals, but I coach them through all aspects of Bariatric life. The weight loss journey is so much more than losing weight. It means changing your mindset, your relationship with food, plus learning to deal with all the unexpected emotional and social challenges that happen along the way. I work 1:1 with my clients, working through the highs and sometimes unexpected lows that come with navigating the world through this physical and emotional transformation. All the while making sure food and eating are enjoyable and pleasurable- good food is an important part of life!

Bariatric Life
Finding success in Bariatric life is so much more than a number on the scale. We are faced with so many unexpected challenges after WLS. You may ask yourself questions like: Can I really shop at THAT store? Is my co-worker treating me nicer now that I have lost the weight? Was that a backhanded compliment or am I just in my head? Helen acts as a sounding board.
WHAT PAST CLIENTS ARE SAYING….
“I’m beyond grateful that I found Helen.”

Beyond Weight Loss, It’s Time to Thrive
Losing weight is just the beginning—adjusting to life in a new body can feel exciting, but it can also bring unexpected vulnerability. For many of us, extra weight wasn’t just a physical barrier; it was an unspoken shield. It gave us an excuse to sit on the sidelines, avoid certain social situations, or dismiss opportunities with a simple “I can’t” or “That’s not for me.” When that safety net disappears, you might feel exposed—noticed in ways you weren’t before, unsure of how to navigate attention, or even struggling with the fear of failure now that your weight is no longer the reason to hold back.
That’s where our work together continues. In our sessions, we’ll explore what’s next for you—big or small. Maybe you want to try a new workout class but feel nervous about being the newcomer. Perhaps you've always wanted to ride a roller coaster, go horseback riding, or zip-lining but felt your size held you back. It could be as personal as feeling confident enough to wear clothes you once avoided or as life-changing as stepping into dating, advancing in your career, or traveling somewhere you never thought possible.
Whatever your next steps are, you don’t have to take them alone. I’ll be here to support you every step of the way—and when you need a little extra courage, I’ll loan you mine.
